Bernadette Peters wrote a children's Book called Broadway Barks.
The publisher's notes for "Broadway Barks" read, "In a park in New York City lives a lonely little dog. He remembers when he used to get taken for walks, fed dinner every night, and told he was a good dog. Now, he's all alone and must fend for himself. But everything changes one day when he sees a lady reading in the park and decides to follow her-all the way to a place where he might become a star!" - broadwayworld.com
It sounds like a good book and I love the fact that there is now a stuffed animal version of

Oh Bernie. Are we trying to stay on Easy Street 'cuz you're not on another street right now?

How very catty of you. Bernadette has been a long advocate of helping homeless animals, a cause she is completely engaged with even when she is on "that other street". And if you took the time to find out anything about the book, you'll find that all of her earnings are going to the shelters. She's not making a dime off of this book and anything connected with it.
Maybe she's not on Broadway because she doesn't need the money and has stated several times she will only return to the grueling schedule of 8 shows a week if the project is special. She is the Queen of Broadway and has earned the right to choose only the projects she wants to pursue.
