Is it just me or have you been seeing a lot of advertisements to go see Young Frankenstein lately?
I mean, I know that a lot of people have seen it and I know a lot of people who loved it but, are my three friends who have paid their money and given their opinions been the only ones?
If you didn't know, the producers of YF have broken tradition and have decided not to disclose their weekly gross or attendance. On playbill.com September 7, 2007, Robert F.X. Sillerman, one of the musicals producers stated this to the New York Times:
"This is a private transaction …Consequently, I don't know if there's any — I'm quite sure there's not any — bona fide business reason to do it other than bragging rights."
Well yes, this would be a way for a successful show to brag but this would also expose the truth about the real success or not success of a show to the general public. Its a show me yours and I'll show you mine world. I figured that out when I was in elementary school.
So Young Frank, are you packing some meat or are you just a small fry???
(Sorry, this blog feels like a result of watching Law and Order, another Broadway Tradition not to be broken)
I am just making an observation. . .
TWO QUESTIONS?
Are the playbills still in color? (Sure sign of a failing show)
And is this a 'PUT THE CLOSING NOTICE ON HOLD, UNTIL THE TONY NOMINATIONS' musical??? (which it very well may be)
GO SEE YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, IT'S LIKE THE PRODUCERS, BUT . . . WHATEVER ITS MEL BROOKS, KING OF BROADWAY. . .
I MEAN SUTTON'S IN IT , IT'S GOT TO BE A HIT! RIGHT?
